How we verify E&O pricing

Three-tier verification per vendor. Live-verified means the rate was fetched directly from the vendor's pricing page today. Industry-reported means the vendor publishes pricing but the page returned HTTP 403 or timed out — figure from indexed marketing snippets. Quote-only means no published indicative rate exists.

Live-verified (3)

NEXT, Thimble, Insureon — all returned the exact rates cited.

Industry-reported (2)

Hiscox ($22.50/mo) and Hartford ($76/mo book average) — both vendor pages were unreachable today (403/timeout). Figures from search-indexed marketing pages.

Quote-only (3)

Embroker, Vouch, Coalition — all explicitly quote-driven. Vouch publishes $2K-$4K/yr indicative range for tech E&O in a blog post but no calculator. Coalition publishes nothing.

The Coalition $67/mo trap

Multiple guides attribute "$67/month average" to Coalition specifically. The actual source is industry-wide tech E&O median data. Coalition does not publish indicative rates of its own. We flag this on the home page explicitly.

Industry benchmarks

Synthesised from vendor profession-specific averages (NEXT publishes 11, Thimble publishes 7), the Insureon book ranges, plus 2026 industry summaries (MoneyGeek, NerdWallet). Physician malpractice deliberately split into low-risk and high-risk because the spread is 5-15× rather than the modest spreads in other professions.
